Why Video Annotation?
Annotate directly on videos, even while they are playing.
No need to extract and manage thousands of frames.
It is always simpler to deal with a single video file than with thousands of
image
files.
Tracking with consistent IDs. Annotating videos makes tracking of
detected objects for the duration of the video simpler,
including when objects move in and out of frame, or when their order changes.
Annotating temporal features is much easier on videos. A car can be
signaling for a turn, or a person sitting down or standing up - these are
trivial to notice and annotate on
videos.
Better annotation quality. Annotating on video can naturally follow the
camera or an object's movement using interpolation,
while annotating on disparate images results in flickering and jumps in between
frames.
Cost and error reduction. More training data, at a fraction of the
annotation time and cost.
Better trained models. More training data yields better trained models.
Automated tracking. Use object tracking algorithms to better annotate
moving
objects.
Native format. You capture video data, so it is the natural choice to
annotate and train video data, rather than a small sample of disparate images.
